Miroslav Ziak, an MP of the Slovak parliament, claims to have received an anonymous email containing documents that prove connections between the Russian embassy in Slovakia and the opposition parties Smer-SD and SNS. The email included a photocopy of a Russian passport issued to Luboš Blaha, the deputy chairman of the SMER-SD party. The email also contained a letter from Vladimir Titov, the Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation, to the Russian ambassador to Slovakia, Igor Bratčik. The letter stated that the Russian embassy in Slovakia is tasked with intensifying contacts with loyal politicians and restoring communications with Slovak media. Russia also allegedly earmarked subsidies to support Slovak entrepreneurs with ties to SMER-SD and SNS political parties. Titov wrote, "I ask ensuring uninterrupted dialogue with representatives of the political parties SMER-SD and SNS." The Russian Foreign Ministry is reportedly concerned about future parliamentary elections as a direct threat to the restoration of the influence of the Russian Federation in the Eastern European Region. However, Luboš Blaha has denied having a Russian passport.
