The current three-day show of “elections to the State Duma”, which Russian invaders are now holding in the Crimea, has already received legal and political assessments, decisively everyone has spoken out – from the French Foreign Ministry to the Verkhovna Rada and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. Therefore, it remains to investigate the purely practical circumstances of this action, the very “valuable personnel” and “democratic mechanisms” that authoritative medical workers of regional hospitals from Serbia and Venezuela have come to borrow. Seriously, this is where such a “powerful team of international observers” has worked. The main specificity of such “parliamentary elections – 2021”, which significantly distinguishes them from the “previous series”, is the aggressor’s deep immersion in Orwell. Since now the question is not being raised in the obvious “results”, but in the mass character of the phenomenon, within which the procedure of “expression of will” is increasingly reminiscent of the Soviet one, but rather the modern communist Chinese one.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met in Washington with his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden, becoming only the second European leader to be accepted at the White House. Enjoying a warm welcome at all levels and bringing home a hefty package of promising agreements, including in defense and energy fields, the Ukrainian delegation naturally faced wild attempts of the country’s powerful rival to undermine the significance of the visit and portray Ukraine in a rather unfavorable light of petty aid seekers.
By Simon StoneBBC Sport Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings after racist abuse was aimed at England players during Thursday's 4-0 win over Hungary in a World Cup qualifier in Budapest. Raheem Sterling and Jude Bellingham were both targeted. England players were also pelted with objects in the second half and a flare was thrown on the pitch by the home fans at Puskas Arena. England condemned the abuse as "completely unacceptable". We can't let hate win, keep smiling.
On 30 August our Association submitted officially the responses to the questionnaire of the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Professor Nils Melzer, to inform the Rapporteur’s thematic report to be presented to the Human Rights Council in March 2022. Our responses were devoted to the situation with tortures and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (CIDTP) in the Crimea. Postal service is one of the politically organized territories’ ways of interaction. Therefore, each state seeks to create its own extensive system of postal services inside and outside its borders. The normal functioning of the postal institution allows not only to receive timely postal messages, but also to receive other services for both the public and legal entities. Post service is the official tool of communication that is state-owned and always remains the largest network compared to other operators. In fact, the existence of its own postal system is recognized as one of the state entities’ symbols, and the organization of the postal service is an essential part of domestic and foreign policy, including informational one.

After the occupation of Crimea in 2014, Russia, in violation of the requirements of Article 64 of the Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War 1949, extended the action of its own criminal legislation and legislation on administrative offenses to the occupied territory. This legislation contains the concept of “extremism”. The accusations of extremism are actively used by the de facto occupation “authorities” to persecute dissent, in particular Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians who oppose the occupation, representatives of religious communities such as Jehovah’s Witnesses and Hizb ut-Tahrir, and other individuals and groups deemed undesirable by the occupiers. The very existence of such a concept as “extremism” in the criminal legislation of Russia can be considered a marker of the authoritarian nature of the Russian political regime. This concept does not exist in international criminal law and criminal law of democratic countries.
Democracy remains truly vulnerable, being based on the principle of respect for other views. Dictators are well aware of that, exploiting all the advantages democracy offers to actually fight against it, including in foreign policy matters. This is what we are now seeing in Russia's efforts aimed at hindering Ukraine's European integration process.
WEG endeavours to analyse Geneva's Biden-Putin summit preceding events and a manner in which both sides have approached this day. The reasons for which we do not consider the meeting of two powers become a "new Yalta" are set out in this article.
"Lukashenko has balls oaf steel, I respect him!” Nothing new here, it might seem. Anyone could express affection for any political leaders and voice support for them in any way, including rather extravagant ones. But in this case, things are different. A downtrodden and broken man, Lukashenko's fierce critic Roman Protasevich, detained following a forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk on May 23, cheerfully recites on camera a pre-learned phrases praising the solidity of the leader's testicles...
