The European Business Review met Tony Moretta, Digital Jersey's CEO. Tony Moretta is proud that Jersey was recently ranked third for internet speed in the world. However, it's not just Jersey's world-class infrastructure.
We are grateful to Mr. Moretta for meeting us today. For a business leader, how do you jump-start your day? What are your top tips for increasing productivity during the day?
I don't like to wake up in the morning, so I try to get out of bed early to check what's going on. I subscribe to several feeds about AI, Fintech, and so forth, which I try not to miss before my day begins. To make the most out of my day, I always have a breakfast meeting. Although I may not always be able to maximize my productivity, I do my best to leave time in my schedule for thought time. In a job like mine, it's easy to spend the entire day in meetings. It is important for me to leave time for reflection or to catch up with my team. It's not something I do very often, but I try. My 30 year career has been full of busy times, but I have never had one like the four years in Jersey. We are able to do a broad range of things, including education, fintech, digital health and IoT.
We are glad to see that your career has been successful. You were appointed CEO of Digital Jersey in 2011. We would love to hear about the highlights of your professional life.
After graduating, I worked for seven-and-a-half-years in a bank. It was a great opportunity to gain a broad management background and expand my skills. I was also able to enter what is now known as fintech, which is both banking and tech's product and business development roles. That was a key move that allowed me to get into banking tech, along with smart card and payment processing. It was a significant decision for me to make the move from financial services to the TV industry. This allowed me to expand my product development and business skills into another area of technology. Then came a few years of digital TV and radio and finally mobile telephony. There I spent three years building a joint venture among three large telcos and then taking it through the European Commission. It is always a pleasure to look at different aspects in the commercial world. It was a big competition issue and regulators had to approve it. Digital Jersey is a way to bring together many different aspects of my career, including different skill sets and industry sectors. All of that is possible in one job. Actually, I love to tell people that I have an eclectic resume which qualifies for any job except this one.

Flexibility is key to eating well, according to Joyce Meng, MD assistant professor at UConn Health's Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center. You can follow a strict diet plan if you prefer. It's okay if you don't like following a strict diet plan.
Tricia Montgomery (52), founder of K9 Fit Club knows firsthand the benefits of a healthy diet and lifestyle. Her favorite things are eating healthy food and making small, frequent meals. She says, "I don’t deny myself anything." "I still enjoy dessert, key lime pie, yum!" -- I love frozen gummy bears and moderation is the key.
Get regular checkups. Your doctor will keep track of your medical history so that you can stay healthy. If you are at high risk of osteoporosis (a condition that weakens bones), your doctor may recommend more vitamin D and calcium.
You may be recommended by your doctor to have screening tests done to monitor your health and detect conditions before they become serious.
Be open to communication. Meng said, "If you have any questions, ask your doctor." "Ensure you are satisfied with the information." Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about any medication or procedure.
It can be very detrimental to your health. It is impossible to avoid it all, but there are ways you can reduce the effects. Do not take on too many responsibilities. Set limits for yourself and others. It is okay to say no.
To relieve stress, try:
Talking to a friend or family member.

You can prevent problems from coming your way tomorrow if you make the right decisions today.
