Birmingham Community Healthcare Foundation Trust is part of the pilot that will support the delivery of TIHM (Technology Integrated Health Management), for dementia.

TIHM (Technology Integrated Health Management for Dementia) is a groundbreaking study that aims transform care for people with dementia and their caregivers. Surrey and Borders Trust is leading the project in partnership with the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing of the University of Surrey and Howz, a smart monitoring provider.

We all know that dementia is an increasing problem. It is a growing problem as people age and live longer. Around 676,000 people in England are thought to have dementia. The total number of people living with dementia in the UK is 850,000.

The majority of dementia affects seniors. After the age of 65, the chance of developing it roughly doubles every five year. Some dementias can be diagnosed earlier than others, which presents different problems for the caregiver, the family, and the person who is affected. In England, there are approximately 540,000 people who care for those with dementia. One in three people will take care of someone with dementia during their lifetime, according to estimates.

TIHM uses a combination of artificial intelligence and a network of digital devices in a person’s home to allow clinicians to remotely monitor their patient's health and wellbeing. A centralised monitoring team is activated when the technology detects a problem.

In 2016, the first phase of the TIHM study for dementia was launched. It involved over 400 people with dementia, and their caregivers from across Surrey and NE Hampshire. The study was conducted for six months.

A second study, which will conclude at the end of September 2019, was launched after positive results were obtained. It was independently evaluated by the School of Health Sciences at the University of Surrey. This second study will involve 120 participants with dementia and their caregivers. It will further refine and improve the TIHM technology for dementia.

Birmingham Community Healthcare Trust plans to launch the pilot in this year. The pilot will be supported by the single point of access monitoring team and clinical case managers. This is an exciting opportunity for us to examine the potential impact of this technology to deliver 'fit to 2022'.

Be open to communication. Meng said, "If you have any questions, ask your doctor." "Ensure you are satisfied with the information." Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about any medication or procedure.


Reduce Stress

It can be very detrimental to your health. It is impossible to avoid it all, but there are ways you can reduce the effects. Do not take on too many responsibilities. Set limits for yourself and others. It is okay to say no.

Meditation

Yoga

Massage

Exercise

Healthy eating

Talking to a friend or family member.

Develop healthy habits

You can prevent problems from coming your way tomorrow if you make the right decisions today.


Brush your teeth twice daily and floss each day.

Don't smoke.

Limit your alcohol. Limit your alcohol intake to 1 drink per day.

Take your medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Get better sleep. Try to sleep for at least 8 hours. Talk to your doctor if you are having trouble sleeping.

Keep out of direct sunlight between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Wear your seatbelt.

Meng suggests that you take time each day to invest in your own health.


Montgomery was able to see the benefits. Montgomery says that she has overcome health issues, is happy, and has a positive outlook. She says that her life has been forever transformed.
