Last week, cryptocurrency funds and products saw record inflows of $1.5 billion. This was their 10th consecutive week of investments. As optimism rose with the trading of bitcoin exchange traded fund, CoinShares reported Monday.

The total inflows this year have exceeded the $6.7 billion record for 2020, which was set at $8 billion.

The total assets under management also reached a new record of $79.2 Billion, though it was $76.7 Billion at the end of the week.

Data showed that Bitcoin accounted for $1.45 billion of the bulk of inflows over the sixth consecutive week. The $6.1 billion inflows to the largest cryptocurrency worldwide for the year to-date was $6.1 billion.

Last week saw the debut of the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BTF.O), a landmark moment in the crypto industry. It is expected that this will attract more institutional investors.

This pushed bitcoin to an all time high of $67,016.50 Last time it was up 4.6% at $63,682.

"Bitcoin's new all-time highs show both how far we have come and the potential bitcoin has to upend financial system and create global economy, linking developed and emerging markets like no other," stated Ray Youssef (co-founder and chief executive of Paxful), a global peer–to-peer fintech platform.

He said that while the recent price rally can be attributed movements such as the approval of the first Bitcoin ETF for institutional investors but it is important to recognize the impact of significant developments and adoptions in emerging markets.

Ethereum saw outflows of $1.4 million for the third consecutive week. CoinShares believes that the outflows are due to minor profit-taking, as the price approaches record heights. Ether, which is the currency used to create the Ethereum blockchain, was last traded at $4,224.30. This 3.5% increase was reported by CoinShares.

Inflows were also seen in other altcoins. Inflows to Solana and Cardano totaled $8.1 million, $5.3million and $1.8 million respectively.

Grayscale and Coinshares managed $54.6 billion and $5.2 trillion respectively last week.
