Positano

Positano is considered the queen of the kingdom. It is a well-known and popular town. The most famous image of the Amalfi Coast is the tumble of pastel houses which cascade down the mountainside, creating a candy-coloured pyramid. You will find neatly organized rows of sun loungers and umbrellas with yellow and orange stripes stretching out before a turquoise ocean as you descend the thousand-steps from Piazza dei Mulini up to the Spiaggia Grand. You can also see the Santa Maria Assunta cathedral in the center of town, which is covered with a complex mosaic of dark blue, green and yellow tiles. Take a walk to Fornillo Beach from the pier that the ferry to Capri departs from. The beach is small and has a few public beaches. There's also a medieval tower, which was once used to keep an eye on pirate attacks.

Atrani

Follow the Via delle Signore from Amalfi to discover Atrani. This charming village is nestled between two hills that run alongside the Dragone River. It will be like being in an Escher drawing. For a stunning view of the village, and the lemon groves below, follow the artist's steps and climb up to Santuario Santa Maria del Bando. Wander through the narrow streets, under the arches, and down the stairways of the town. Have a drink at one the cafes in Piazza Umberto I. Atrani's sandy beach is much more photogenic than the whitewashed buildings. To get the best view of Santa Maria Maddalena's rococo-style cathedral, go out to sea. To see the rich interior and 11-century-old bronze door, go back to land.

Conca dei Marini

You will be able to miss it if you blink while driving along the 50 km (30 mi) of the SS 163, a twisty Amalfi Coast road – Conca dei Marini is small. This fishing village is located between Amalfi & Furore. Grotta dello Smeraldo, also known as the Emerald Grotto, is the most prominent attraction. This was a popular tourist spot in the 1930s thanks to Luigi Buonocore (a local sailor). This grotto is located in a cave and the sun shines through the walls creating a dazzling effect on the water. This is the perfect destination for those who love sweets. The Convent of Santa Rosa nuns created the sfogliatella Santa Rosa, an orange-scented pastry with ricotta filling. It was first made in 17th century.

Ravello

The town is located high above the sea, at 365m (1.200ft), along the Lattari mountain range. Ravello offers breathtaking views. Take a picture of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Norman and Moorish-style tower from the Villa Rufolo. You can walk through the pedestrian-only streets of the town to reach the Villa Cimbrone, where you will find the gardens and the sculpture-lined Terrace of Infinity. It takes two hours to walk from the main square Piazza Fontana Moresca to reach the Villa Cimbrone. Here you will find beautiful restored hotels, crumbling villas, and romantic 11th- and 12-century churches. This is where royalty and celebrities once stayed when they visited this special destination. The Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium is a spectacular music venue. It's suspended above the ocean and hosts international and Italian artists on evenings during the summer months.

Cetara

Cetara is a peaceful fishing village located at the Vietri sul Mare coast. Every day, tuna and anchovy fishermen fix their nets on the pier near their painted fishing boats. The pier is located across the small beach that overlooks the stunning Collata Bay. The Aragonese tower, which is located at the eastern end of the beach, once protected the town from Saracen pirates. Today there are art shows in the tower. After descending a flight of stairs to reach the water, you'll find a small section of sand instead. The famous Cetara salted anchovy sauce, called colatura (which dates back to Roman times) is well-known.
